Tony Fry

Tony Fry’s body of work, as expressed in various projects and a still growing collection of writing, represents a commitment to elevating the significance of design to the status of a fundamental condition of human being, coupled with a sustained effort to shift the modality within which design is theorized away from dominant instrumental frames and toward ontological and political conceptions of what design is and what it does. In working toward and extending these ideas, Fry’s practice is grounded in a rigorously philosophical approach to understanding design.
